July 15 update – Using the Global Pickleball Network

Hello Stouffville Pickleball Players
Because we are a drop in program we never know how many players are going to be at the court. There are times we will not attend thinking that no one else will be there. For some of us it is a long drive only to find out that there is no one at the courts to play our favourite sport, Pickleball.
We want everyone to use the system to sign up if they are going to the courts. I would like the members to bookmark the website since they would be using it regularly, the web address is:   https://www.globalpickleball.network/network/events/viewEvents/3511-stouffville-pickleball-players
We are running a controlled drop-in for Pickleball in Stouffville . For many days this works fine but for others, people travel long distances to find the courts empty or almost empty. To assist with this situation we are asking that all members REGISTER FOR ANY DAY AND TIME THAT THEY ARE PLANNING TO PLAY. This can be done days or hours ahead of attending.
Most of you are wondering HOW THE HECK DO I DO THAT. For those of you that are already members of the GLOBAL PICKLEBALL NETWORK (GPN) and the STOUFFVILLE PICKLEBALL PLAYERS NETWORK it is super easy. Go to the Stouffville network (Click Link Below) and in the Menu just under the picture of allot of great looking pickleball players click on the event heading. That will take you to a page listing every event available. Pick your first applicable date and click on it. On the event page you will see a box on the right that is titled Event Registration. Click yes then update. If you want to register for other events repeat this process.
We have set a limit for every session of 32 people. As people sign up when you go back to GPN you will be able to see who is coming for each session.
Register now with Global Pickleball Network
75 of the 106 Members have signed up for the Global Pickleball Network. If you are one of those that have not we need you to take the plunge. It is very easy to use and the price is right (FREE). After reviewing several systems to run the Stouffville Pickleball Players club GPN proved to be the both best value and provided the most functionality. To join click on this link  https://www.globalpickleball.network/network/register/3511-stouffville-pickleball-players
If you are not a member of the Stouffville Pickleball Players for 2020 but you plan to be a member once the Covid-19 is over please register with the Golbal Pickleball Network.
This should be a one step process and when you are finished you can follow the instructions above for registering for drop-in events.
If you have any problems reach out to chuck@cam11pickleball.ca and he will help you.
Thank you for your support this year and I hope you are enjoying the Pickleball.
Stay Safe and see you on the courts.

June 2nd update

Hi All Stouffville Pickleball Players

How we conducting everyday pickleball at the Pickleball Courts on the Ninth Line

Currently we are having a “Drop In” Format. You can not reserve a court

We have 8 courts with two players on each court. Once you have completed a game come off the court and see if anyone waiting wants to use the court. We are suggesting that every time a court comes free every one moves down one court to the WEST. Thus the free court becomes the most easterly court and players can limit the number of times they have to pass close to another player on the courts. The most common time players are playing is between 10:00 and 11:00 so to avoid large numbers of players wanting to play all at once please consider arriving at 11:00 or 12:00

Please complete a application form and send it with the registration fee. Fill out and pay for a membership with Pickleball Ontario.

When you get to the courts these are your responsibilities:.

1) Sign in in the “Sign in Book” so we can keep track of the players that attended each day.

2) Set up the net. Preferred that you use gloves and remove them by turning them inside out when discarding them so you will not contaminate anyone else. If you are using your bare hands disinfect them using soap and water or hand sanitizer.

3) Take a “Clean Ball” out of the clean ball bin and play the Skinny Singles play with one other player. When you have finished playing with that player or want to play with another partner put the ball in the “Disinfection Balls” Bin (White Bin). Spray the ball with the “Bleach/Water” solution then drop the ball in “Drying Bin” (Green Bin) to dry. The Bleach/Water solution should be on the ball approx. 5 minutes. See Attached “Disinfecting Table” or Picture below

4) If you are going to play with another players take a “Clean Ball” and repeated step # 3

5) In between games and when you are finished playing wash your hands with soap and water or use the hand sanitizer.

6) Stay healthy and try to keep the players around you healthy.

If you have any suggestions to make playing Pickleball at our courts safer please e-mail me and we will consider your suggestions.

May 25th update

Hi All Stouffville Pickleball Players
We are having a very good season so far considering the Covid-19 virus has changed the way we have had to organize our play. .
The official website now is https://www.pickleballstouffville.ca
We have 86 members so far. Keep those applications coming in (See applications form attached. Remember you must first sign up for Pickleball Ontario before you send in your application.
Today we had 22 players at the courts.
Since most of us can not play singles for an hour straight we decided to allow players to wait.
We are playing one singles game them swapping with the players that are waiting. We kept social distancing at all times.
If you changed partners, you got a clean disinfected ball.
Thanks to all the volunteers that have been setting up the disinfecting table.
See below for the schedule. We are still a few volunteers short. If you would like to volunteer , it only takes a couple of minutes to set up the table and having two players scheduled for each day means that you do not have to be at the courts every week.

Please volunteer .
We have three volunteers for Tuesday morning, If one of you would like to switch to another day it would be appreciated.
Remember we are still playing on Monday and Wednesday Evenings.
If you are ever worried about having players in attendance to play. Get a the name and e-mail address of a few of the members and make a group. If you want to play on a particular day just e-mail the group and ask if any of them are planning to attend the same day as you are thus guaranteeing another player or two to play with you with a similar ability.

Make it fun to play

2020 Season

Hi All Stouffville Pickleball Players

Opening of the Stouffville Pickleball Courts as of Wednesday May 20, 2020 .

We have talked to the Town and this is what they have decided to make playing Pickleball as safe as possible during these trying times.

All 8 courts will be open as of Wednesday May 20, 2020. Singles only play. (Skinny Singles where you can only play on the west portion of the court, leaving at least 10 feet between you and the person playing in the court beside you) This means a maximum of 16 players on the court for the first 1 hour and 16 different players on for the second 1 hours and if we have enough players a different 16 play for the 3rd hour.

Players must be a member of Stouffville Pickleball Players and a member of Ontario Pickleball. Starting today we have a new waiver (See attached) for all members to sign (includes Covid-19 or any other virus in the description). If you have already sent in an application could you please fill in the new one and send it in. We currently have 60 applications for the 2020 season.

During our day time sessions there will be three 1 hour drop in sessions. Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 11:00 and 11:00 to 12:00 and 12:00 to 1:00, Sunday 2:00 to 3:00 and 3:00 to 4:00 and 4:00 to 5:00 , Monday and Wednesday evenings will be one session from 6:30 to 7:30 and 7:30 to 8:30 . It will be first come first served. Arrive only 10 minutes before your session. If you are the 17th person to arrive you can sign in as the 1st person in the next session. If there is a free court at the end of your session you can stay and play for another hour.

When you arrive stand your paddles up along the south fence with competitive players near the east gate and social players west of the competitive players. If you know someone you would like to play with put you paddles close to each other but not touching .

Pickleball Courts will be open to the public from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM if you want to set up a net and have your own game, singles play still applies. Must be a member of the Stouffville Pickleball Players to use the nets and equipment.

Drop-in format

5 minutes. See Attached “Disinfecting Table”
